Smetana Šárka from Má vlast Mozart Concerto for Flute and Harp Janáček The Cunning Little Vixen Suite Dvořák Scherzo capriccioso
Guest conductor Jacques Lacombe is joined by two of the San Antonio Symphony’s own principal musicians, flautist Martha Long and harpist Rachel Ferris, for Mozart’s popular Concerto for Flute and Harp—Mozart’s only composition that includes the harp. Bedrich Smetana’s Šárka depicts an ancient Czech legend while Leoš Janáček’s Cunning Little Vixen is based on a 20th-century Czech cartoon, but both stories celebrate the power women have over men! Dvořák’s Scherzo capriccioso completes the program with panache.
